7 Sins God Hates
Proverbs 6:16:19
Solomon on lists 7 particular sin that God hates.
A proud look or haughty eyes
A lying tongue
Hands that shed innocent blood
A heart that deviseth wicked schemes
Feet that run to mischief
A person that bears false witness and lies
A person sows’ discord in the church and or Christian community.
If God hates these acts and deeds, then as a Christian one would think that we should hate them too.
We can sometimes through our carnal nature hate something, yet not be able to discipline ourselves to refrain from partaking in something.
Listen to what the apostle Paul wrote about this from Roman 7:15
“for that which I do I allow not, for what I would, that do I not, but what I hate, that do I.”
another matter of the heart the sin of a lying tongue is part of the original sin in the garden.
Satan lied to Eve, eve lied to Adam and Adam lied to God.
A vicious cycle began that still is happening today.
When you lie it doesn't just affect you and the person that you lied to, but it is a rabbit hole that can run very deep.
Begins one lie, then requires another lie to cover up the first, then another lie happens to try to cover for the other and it keeps going and going.
This can occur through gossip.
Reputations can be ruined, marriages broken, jobs lost, families destroyed, and even lives lost because someone couldn't mind their own business and keep their mouth shut.
The sin of lying tongue can and we'll come full circle eventually. If you have an issue with a lying tongue, remember do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
As a Christian speak the truth and nothing but the truth, remember God is your father, not the devil whom Jesus calls the father of lies.
b. Hands that shed innocent blood.
First, this is a direct grievance against the fifth of the 10 commandments thou shalt not kill.
Now there are several aspects to this I want to mention.
I believe in the God-given right of self-defense. Everyone Saint and Sinner has the right to defend their lives and anyone else's life that is physically being threatened and if it means inflicting death upon the aggressor that is what it means. That is not shedding innocent blood.
War. When called upon into combat a person may under direct command be placed into harm's way. this may be to mean that the taking of enemy combatants must happen. That is not shedding innocent blood. When an army or the individual representing a government, with malice, attack a civilian a noncombatant, or areas that hold noncombatants such as hospitals, churches, schools, business areas, etc., people die. Then that government or individual will be considered to have brought the deaths of innocent blood.
Capital punishment - when a person receives a fair trial by a panel of their peers and the accused freely admits or they are found with no shadow of a doubt guilty then that person should be sentenced to death by execution. That is not s setting of innocent blood. Now, you may not agree with me, but scripturally I believe it is correct.
This should have been first. God hates the shedding of the blood of the innocent blood of the unborn of his creation and those who are victims of outright infanticide. There is nothing more innocent than an unborn or newborn baby. What a wonderful gift of God. God makes no mistakes. An unborn child has liked a born baby, been made in the image of God. King David wrote in Psalm 139, “For you created my inmost being, unit me together in my mother's womb comes on I praise you because I'm fearfully and wonderfully made, your works are more wonderful I know that full well. my frame was not hidden from you when I was made in a secret place when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body, all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be”. In explaining what he said was: “The things I need to do, my sinful nature keeps me from doing sometimes in the things I despise and no I shouldn't do by my sinful nature I do them.” Wow, how many of us could agree and have empathy with this statement? Here are the things to me, these particular sins that Solomon listed are sins that God expects the unsaved and unrighteous to commit, but not his own disciples. Whether you like to hear this or not we as Christian sin in some way I believe every day. Yes, it's true that we all sinned and fall short of the glory of God, but that is not to be used as an excuse, ever! our spiritual weakness and our inabilities to handle the spiritual temptations thrown at us put us in a precarious situation before the almighty. God loves us indeed, yet James the brother of Christ said that he whom the Lord loveth he also chastens. Sin is sin in the eyes of God it all equates to the unsaved and unrighteous eventually being judged for the sins of their life and it is a major source of spiritual trouble for the Christian. I do believe that God hates the acts of sin, but I also believe that because of Christ shed blood at Calvary that the sins of the unsaved can be washed away by that atoning blood. John 3:16. I also believe that being unconfessed in the life of a believer will cause a gap in our relationship with God until it is confessed. Thus, yes, all sin is equal to God yet there is a part of me that thinks that went enact I've seen is called in domination before God that's in might get a whole lot more attention from the almighty God we serve. When the term abomination is used in scripture, it just seems to me that it is being identified as something that God hates and despises more. Part of that I believe it is because it's particularly offensive to him and his personality and his character. Yes, our loving God hates those things that take the spiritually further away from his offered grace and that causes separation between he and his spiritual children, the Christian. Knowing this, I implore you if you are not saved to come to Christ as your savior today so that your sins can be wiped away and that you will have internal life with God. Knowing this, I implore my brothers and sisters in Christ to discipline ourselves to be better than the sins of this world. Being chastised by God is nowhere you or I want to be. Coming full circle let's look at these sins of Anna's domination before God. For the unsaved but particularly for God's own, the Christian.
My explanation is going to be from a Christian perspective.
Pride and haughty eyes
There is the sin of self-pride. This is when a person has the need to do what they do to have their ego stroked. it may not start out like that, but in time it evolves into that. Narcissism rises up and then pride fullness ensnares share. When this occurs in the life of a Christian, it will put them on a collision course with Proverbs 16:18. “Pride goes before destruction in a haughty spirit before a fall.” A private spirit will in time cause a person’s focus on doing things for God's glory to lose focus and it becomes about them. Paul warns the church of Philippi about this. Philippians 2:3 “Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory, but in loneliness of mind. Let each esteem other better than themselves.” Part A of this verse explains that a Christian needs to put self aside, so that God may be magnified and glorified by their life and actions. Part B leads to the second part of the sin of pride, arrogance and haughty eyes. I have witnessed it so many times when a Christian by self-pride thanks and even looks down on others that believe are subordinate to them. And we believe are needs to remember that what we have in this life is by the grace of God. If another person doesn't quite meet up to our standards, then we esteem that they are of lesser class or value than ourselves. Perhaps they don't meet our level on the professional level, maybe they are not as educated as we may be. We view them as not being our class or show social levels. They drive in 1985 Ford gremlin while we cruise around in a new Tesla. Their wardrobe is old while we have the newest trends. Our children go to an Ivy league school and theirs go to a trade school. Remember you and I came into this world with nothing and we will leave this world the same way except the eternal life right? Remember that all we have is gods it's on loan to us. Remember, that you may look on the outside of a person while God look only upon their hearts. Remember don't let self pride bring about egotism and narcissism and don't let personal pride cause you to be superior to anyone else mind body and spirit. Pride and arrogance are a sin in God's eyes. Christians, we need to get past ourselves and get to two or back to it's about God and not about me. The sin number two that God despises.
A lying tongue: This sin can be traced back to the garden of Eden. Satan lied through the serpent to Eve, Adam lied to God and then the circus began. Jesus identified Satan as father of lies. When we choose to lie, and it is a choice we are playing into the devil's hand.
What are some of the reasons why we have lying tongues?
To enact self-preservation to preserve our image
To preserve our image
To cover up an act
To save someone's feelings
We lie to cover up another sin.
So, we do or say something sinful we lie about it, then we found out our suspicions are raised, we lie to cover up the first, and then it continues on and on.
But as the prophet Nathan pointed out at King David and said thou art the man our lies will eventually be found out.
Listen, I get it. We love our spouses and families and friends in one way it's admirable to not hurt someone, but when the rubber meets the road it's tough to figure out that lying isn’t the answer.
Wife: “Babe, I bought a new dress today I don't look slim in it.
My Advice: Men, unless you want to have a miserable day or days, don't say well not really, tell her that in your opinion she looks great!
Husband: Honey, are you proud of me for the Big Ten pint, Boone, and Crockett qualifying buck I took this past year?
You ladies may think to yourself, no – I really could care less, and you aren’t really cool with hubby harvesting those cute deer.
My advice: ladies, unless you want your mate to clam up and pout for days, simply reply by acknowledging his hunting prowess and the real nice buck.”
White lies are still a sin, always sync the first period like the old saying goes make sure your brains are in gear before our mouths are engaged.
What is wrong with Christians telling the truth in matters of life?
We don't have to lie, we can give answers to questions by not hurting one another.
How about we don't sin in the first place then we don't have to lie.
Do you know people who have lied to you, how's trust going with that?
Do you know people whom you feel that every time they open their mouths you speak you're already wondering what they'll be lying about this time?
Brothers and sisters in Christ, we have to be better than lying tongue. That Satan hopes that we will use.
Don't be the person otherwise don't trust, don't be the person that people have to be concerned about whether we are telling the truth or not.
