“Spiritual D-Day”

John 11:25-26

 Tomorrow marks the 78th day of remembrance of the largest Seabourn military invasion in history.  Called Operation Overlord, the invasion aspect was Operation Neptune.

On June 6, 1944, allied troops primarily of the US, British and Canadian forces landed on 3 beaches off the coast of Normandy France.  Other forces join them were Australian, Belgian, Czech, Dutch, French Freedom fighters, Greek, New Zealand, Norwegian, Rhodesian and Pole Resistance too.

They were attacking the Bluffs overlooking the coastline of Normandy.

It was to establish a beachhead for a full-scale invasion of Nazi occupied France.

Allied troops landed on five separate beaches called:  Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, Sword, which was the far West beach.

Utah landing was comprised of the US 1st Army, 7th Corps 4th & 90th infantry 82nd & 101st airborne.

Omaha - US 1st Army 5th Corp.  This beach took the greatest casualties, this is the beach from the opening of the movie Saving Private Ryan.

Gold - the British second army 30th core took this beach with a about 400 casualties.

Juno - was next the Canadian third infantry division, British second army First Corp took 1200 casualties.

Lastly Sword Beach - lead by the British 2nd Army first Corp with help from the French and British commanders 630 casualties took place.

156,115 Troops ultimately landed.

73,000 Americans 130,000 Infantry 24, 000 Paratroopers 6th and the famous 82nd & 101st Airborne & 2nd Rangers Regiment.

61,715 Brits

21,400 Canadians

All the beaches were taken by nightfall but with a terrible price. Especially for the American troops on Omaha beach where over 2000 were killed in about 2400 wounded.

Before D-Day the allies put out a ton of deception efforts trying to mislead Hitler and the Nazis as to the location of the invasion.

Germany knew it was coming, but they missed guest the location and it seems they miscalculated the size of the invasion as well.

D day will be remembered as the time that Adolph Hitler and then his Nazi regimen began to understand that the American and the Allied were going to make them pay the price for these sinful wretched people to face judgement.

The Nazi regime would be defeated and its leaders that survived were not judged at the Nordenberg trails, and most were convicted and executed for war crimes.

America and Allies sent millions of people free across Europe, but we and others paid a heavy price for them. 

have you ever thought that every person will face a spiritual day?

You will and I will too.

Coming we all know that it is.

The exact day, hour and moment is not known, only God knows that.

It's coming, it may be a surprise when it actually does.

The question is will you be ready for it when it does?

Will life and its nuisance cause you to be preoccupied?

Will Satan bluff you into thinking that the material things of this world will bring you spiritual contentment?

Will you believe the false narrative that you're a good person, so death will come but you'll be OK and go to heaven?

Or will you let God's truth lead your decisions?

Will you spurn the nuisances of life yet enjoy it as God provides?

Will you not be preoccupied and are you ready for death when it comes.

Are you prepared, D day and spiritual death day prove that Satan’s bluff of self means eternal salvation were repelled by your mind heart and soul?

Death is coming, our spiritual day will happen Are you ready?

Jesus made it clear in our text that for those who are prepared for death day no matter the day the hour and wherever location it comes that those who believe on him, though they were once unprepared because of our belief in Christ we would live eternally.

But for those who are not ready for their personal, spiritual D day God's word is clear on their destiny as well.

John 3:18 “whosoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe in is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.”

2nd Thessalonians 8-9:  “8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;”

Are you ready? You're spiritual death day is coming will it be your Liberator and set you free to go to your eternal home or will it be a terrible attack that will bring you down and send you to eternal judgement into the abyss of hell?

To be ready or not to be is it totally your choice and your decision.

I warn you very sternly death day is coming, will it be a blessing or a?

Will it be a moment of triumph or defeat?

One final thought. There is only one way to escape physical death. Jesus is coming to catch his bride and church from this world Are you ready?
