“Jesus is the only way”
John 14:1-6

The lead in to this epic text or scripture is the closing verses in Chapter 13.

The Lord and his closet disciples were partaking of the final Passover together in the Upper Room,

Judas had been sent to embark upon his treacherous journey of betrayal.

Jesus for the umpteenth yet final times revealed that his life was now short term and would be leaving them, they would seek to follow him, but he said they could not.

Peter asked where the Lord was going, Jesus responded where I go you cannot, but you will in time follow be there.

Peter being Peter kept pressing the matter and asked, “Why can’t I follow you now?  I would lay down my life for you.”

Jesus himself asked Peter a question.

“Will you lay down your life for me?  You are going to deny me three times, Peter.

Jesus then began this epic text.  “But don’t let you heart be troubled. You believe in the eternal Father and trust in him, then believe in e the same way. Where my Father is there are many mansions, I wouldn’t tell you that if it wasn’t true.  You have been curious and have inquired where it is I’m going to. Well, I’m going to prepare a place for you when it’s your turn to follow me. Now listen, if I go I will come back so that you and my disciples can be where I am at.  Now, you know where I am going and now you know the way.”

This time it was Thomas with the questions.

We don’t know where you’re going, and how is the way?

These questions were becoming redundant.  Finally Jesus put the bookend on it.

Jesus said, “Thomas, I am the way, I am the truth and I am the life.

I tell you my truth; I am the way to where you will be going.  My life for your eternal life.

I am going to go back to my Fathers right hand in heaven and neither nor can anyone go there unless you go through me.

You say you want to go to heaven, you say you want to have eternal life with God, you say may thing it is dependent on you and you being a good moral person, a volunteer, a good neighbor.

Here is a dose of reality – Jesus is the only way.

In Luke 11:25-23 Jesus was comforting his friend Martha when her brother and Jesus friend Lazarus died.  Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life he who believes in me though they be dead yet shall they live and whosoever believes in me shall never die.

How can anyone not die?  Christ meant spiritually,

Anyone who believes in his as Christ will live forever in eternity with God.

They may be dead spiritually, but through Jesus their soul will live on with God in that place.  Jesus told the disciples, In his Fathers abiding place.

One may taste physical death, but through Jesus they will enter into eternal life.

Jesus is the only way.

God’s chosen people rejected Jesus as their Messiah, it didn’t change the fact that he still was.

They counted on the forgiveness of Jehovah through their works of the atoning blood of their sacrifices.  To inherit eternal life.

Jesus blew the Old Testament out of the water.

In Matthew 5:17:  “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.”

Hebrews 10:4:  “For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.”

Once and forever it is because of Christ’s sacrifices we have eternal life, blood became the atoning power to cover our sins for eternity once.  It is the only thing the Father now recognizes for the forgiveness of our sins.

Jesus is the only way.

Luke wrote in “Nether is there salvation in any other form for there is not one other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Paul wrote in Ephesians 2:8-10

“8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

We saved by animal sacrifice? Are we saved by our good words and deeds?  Are we saved by any other name>

No, No and No.

Jesus is the only way!

The Muslim seeks heaven by the keeping of the 5 pillars of Islam.

  1. Reciting the Muslim, profession of faith.
  2. Praying their ritual prayers 5x a day
  3. Giving alms to the poor & needy
  4. Fasting in the month of Ramadan
  5. 5 Taking at least 1 pilgrimage to Mecca

The Buddhist seeks not heave, but Nirvana and enlighten.

That the more personal soul is regenerated and my live many, many lives and in may realms of existence.

But they and life is all just an illusion.  It is called the Wheel of Samara. It includes three poisons:  desire, anger and ignorance. These bind the person to the wheel and one must let go of these in order to reach enlightenment.

This releases the person and soul from the perpetual cycle of death, rebirth and suffering.

That the place of enlightenment and nirvana which is eternal bliss it’s a perfect stillness where one has no conscious thought or feeling, ego or emotion.

To the Buddhist, your place of enlighten and nirvana is a lie.  There is only one true place of peace and enlightens, it is called heaven where the only living God abides.

There is only one way to get there:

Jesus is the only way!

The Hindi believes in multiple heavens and hells.  They as well believe in samsara. Which are successive lives and cycles of birth, life and death.  In death the soul regenerates, it reviews its programs, policies and its plan for the next phase of the cycle of samara.

At death they Hindu believe that the soul departs the body through a hole in the top of one’s head.

It goes to another place to do the aforementioned things.

Now the condition of the soul is tied to karma which the Buddhist believes in as well.

Karma is the sum of the person’s action in this and previous states of existence that decides their fate in future existences

Thus the strength or weakness of the soul of the Hindu depends on

It’s previous deeds. Its state of mind. It’s time of death. The activities of its children. And the grace of their Gods

The 4 main significant and religions of the world Christianity, Islam, Hindi, Buddhism, I respect an individual’s right and choice to practice and exercise their religion and faith, but I do not agree nor respect the false religions being practiced.

The way to latter threes heaven, nirvana, enlightenment is very complicated.  It works multiple lives, keeping multiple laws and multiple aspects of attaining they’re eternal state.  It’s the practice of religion.

Christianity is so simple, it’s not a religion.  Ours is about a relationship with the only living God.

It’s not about deeds and actions its about grace, Gods unmerited love toward us.

You say “I want to go to Heaven? OK

Jesus is the only way!

In fact Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and no one can go to the Father except through him.
